Todd Mcintosh – Speed Demon
Todd Macintosh had me all worried silly on the last day of IMATS LA 2008. I heard he said he was going to do an application of “The Master” make-up from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Now I am no fanboy of Buffy per-se, but I am a fan of the show’s make-up (and Allison Hannigan). As the afternoon went on, it slowly began to look like the demon would not be resurrected. Had Todd run out of time? Did his model not show up? Did he get bored and leave?
Then like a hunter on a bad Steve Irwin episode someone said “he’s applying it now!” I was off like a shot to look for it. I don’t know the exact time when it was started, but it had to be after 3PM. I saw the finished character in costume at around 4:15 or 4:30. I remember looking at my watch…Camera ready in under 1.5 hours! THAT’s television experience for you.
On his way out and trailed by his model (already clean faced by 5:45) We shouted to Todd… “Nice work on the Master… we loved it!” With usual speed demon style he replied “Well, you know… Optic Nerve… super easy…” and he speed walked away. Likely late for another demon resurrection elsewhere.
Enjoy this photo of “The Master” as applied by Todd Macintosh in about an hour.
